If they had a designated bar/tavern area for adults to relax while the kids were at the pool, I'd maybe rate this place a little higher. Restaurant was insane - beers were very funky/dirty taplines and all good seemed to just be fried/reheated from frozen and sold at a ridiculous mark-up. Staying in the room was the best experience - water park was just not fun, more or less anywhere comfortable for adults to sit (maybe their outdoor park is better?). Decided to go during a random mid-week in February and it was still busy here. I had to wait for Great Wolf all the time that they get their part done, but then we were forced to rush to finish our part on time.We booked a hot tub suite here for a couple's retreat since I had some credits to use up. Overall I have to say it was a very disappointing customer experience. Sweating and stressed out we made it to the checkout line at the front desk and had to wait in line again. Now we were in a rush to eat, pack our stuff and check out on time (because the customer has to be 100% on time, otherwise he will be charged a late checkout fee). Finally we got a table and put in our order immediately, but it took almost half an hour before our food showed up. Next morning we were told that there are no tables available for breakfast and that we will get an email when a table is ready. The appetizer we ordered never made it to our table and the rest of our order took a while before it was served (however, the food quality was surprisingly good). We went for late dinner, since our check in was late, and we wanted to enjoy the waterpark at least for a short while. Finally we got a room, but were surprised how worn down the carpets were, that there is no safe in the room and how noisy it is due to running and jumping kids until late night. I was told that the room is not ready yet and that they cannot tell me by when it will be available, I should wait for the email (our 9 months old baby was crying most of the time while we were waiting and she was not able to sleep inside the noisy waterpark and our 10 year old daughter was very disappointed). At 4.10pm there was still no email, so I waited in the line at the front desk again. We checked in at 1pm and were told that we will get an email when the room is ready. The negative customer experience started already during the check in. We expected the Great Wolf Lodge to be much better, since it was much more expensive than the Wilderness (also Wilderness charged only about 10% fees/taxes, but Great Wolf almost 25%). We stayed two nights at the Wilderness Resort and then one night at the Great Wolf Lodge. But will likely go back to Wilderness or Kalahari from now on. And there isn't a stylist in scoops - they pull someone from the adult side. And a kids manicure is now $30!!! Used to be $10-15. They've combined (badly) the cute kids salon and the adult salon. The lodge restaurant is pricy and boring, and it's cooked in same kitchen as the fast food/take out/sweet shop/ice cream shop/whatever else they can cram in there. They no longer deliver pizza to your room, you have to walk down to get it. The food is pricy, standard fried fare - which is disappointing. As others have pointed out - it's dirty, dark and the computers are not *quite* able to keep up. They have a huge number of non-English speaking staff - which is ok in the pool, but not optimal when ordering a pizza!!! There is 1 staffer running all of magiquest/and its store - leading to a twenty minute wait to start your game. And dusty! (Seriously, please hose down the place after hours - the dead bugs piled up on the stairwells to the water slides aren't appealing). (The changes I have noted are to charge more for things that previously were included!) The waterpark is unimproved. Having been here multiple times over the last 10 years- there have been NO improvements made - so everything is shabby, dusty and aging. The prices are crazy - for food, magiquest, and every other way to squeeze a dime out. And I am staying here NOW - and disappointed. So we've taken our kids to GWL multiple times in the past, but it's been a few years.
